Coming soon to Canada @Team_Vega Essentials Shake

3138-Vega-Essentials-Infonugget-1200x630-v1

I’m so excited to tell you about this shake that’s coming very soon to Canada. Right now its only available at Target in the US. So all my American friends have probably already tried this already but my Canadian friends will either have to wait a few weeks or cross the border.

I was sent a container of the Vanilla flavour of the Vega Essentials shake powder by the folks at Vega Toronto.  I was not required or asked to write this and do so of my own doing to offer you guys my opinion.

The great thing about the shake boom that is going on right now is the convenience and speed at which you can whip them up!  As most of you know my family and I are very busy and very active.  My wife and I are currently training for our first full marathon in the fall and the Dopey Challenge in January along with us both working full time and me also having a second part time job. My son plays hockey which is 2 nights a week, my daughter is in competitive dance 3 times a week and they both have swimming lessons on another day of the week.  So you can see its important for my wife and I to have a meal option that allows us to to put ourselves first without having to having to put anyone else second.  This Vega product does just that for us!  It provides us the better nutritional building blocks so that we can focus on what really matters; training, taxiing our children, and breakfast before those really early day shifts at work.  There are SO many different option for liquid meals out there which makes it hard for me to find the ones that work best for me and provide the optimal nutrition for my needs.

Here are some of the facts about this shake that I love and personally find important!

  1. 20g of Plant based protein
  2. 3 Servings of greens! Great for some one like me who doesn’t like a lot of veggies!
  3. 25% of your daily intake of food-based vitamins and minerals
  4. 16% of your daily fiber intake
  5. 1g of omega-3’s
  6. 130 Calories and with the protein and fiber content you’ll feel fuller for longer
  7. It’s also Project Non-GMO verified, gluten-free, vegan, and made with no added sugar, dairy, or soy ingredients, artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners

Vega Essentials Tropical Shake

Here’s how I mixed mine up:

Blend fruit and powder with aprox 3/4 of the water then slowly add more to make the consistency you desire and you should end up with this:

Variations:

The beauty of shakes is that you can always add or take away things to always make them fresh and new so you don’t get sick of the same thing all the time.  Things I have tried so far: replace the water with milk, half milk half orange juice, adding a half an avocado, banana, changing up the fruit you use and either fresh or frozen, adding frozen kale or spinach.  I have merely just scratched the surface and the possibilities really are endless.  I’m fairly new to this so I’d love to hear what you guys have tried and what you like for your shakes!  Sharing is Caring 😉

My review:

This powder mixes up really well in all the fluids that I tried.  I find the vanilla flavor could be slightly stronger especially when you mix it with water. I mixed it with water to test how well it mixes without being blended and it performed way better than I thought it would.  Too many times I’ve tried protein powder hand mixed with water and always end up with clumps.  There were no clumps or extra powder settled at the bottom. It mixed to a milk shake consistency both in the blender and with spoon every time.  I did not find it had any gritty texture either.  Overall I would give this a 4/5 and that’s only because I like the extra flavor so for you it may be just right!  I know for my wife she doesn’t like a strong vanilla flavor so it all comes down to personal preference. I highly recommend this to you all and I would love to hear back from you if you do end up trying it.

If you are interested in trying this it will be available in Canada October/November at Walmart exclusively with a lower price point and unique tub size to what you’ve seen with other Vega Products.

I am including the Nutritional facts and ingredients for those that are interested

I would love to hear from you guys!

I haven’t ever tried any of the Vega product. If they come in sample sizes when they come to Canada I might try after reading this review. I have been the victim of a large canister of yucky before so I am wary of trying different protein in shakes…gritty and clumpy makes for a bad start to the day!
    thanks for the input Mike:)

Vega is the BEST! I use it exclusively. I used it and continue to use the Sport line through my NYC Marathon training and it’s top notch.

I love Vega protein! (I just wish I could afford it.) Is this different than the nutritional shake? Would love to try it when it reaches Canada.

Thanks for reading Crystal! The Vega One is a more complete shake and has more of each of the good stuff listed on the tub (greens, vits & mins, fibre, omega-3, antioxidants, and probiotics) which is what makes it more expensive than the Essentials. I quit the On to a full balanced meal where the shake is more of an in-between quick thing. Vega also cost more than other brands because of all the good things its packed with. Next time you out to but some powder put a vega up beside the cheaper one and compare everything. Sometimes you get what you pay for 😉

📸 @edison2176 First day back since nov 7th! Are you sure you know how to operate that van Mil? Omg this #NikePlus workout just kicked my but!!!! It's the called "The Perfect 10" check it out holy geez! Now time to get the kiddlets to bed! My insoles finally came so I had try them out on a quick run! They did feel weird and I could tell my feet were sitting higher in my shoes so I had to adjust my laces from their normal. I was at little worried at that point but once I stood up and walked on them a bit I thought they'd be ok to run on. During the run I didn't notice anything negative at all. I didn't notice that my feet are sitting higher at all. What I did feel was more cushioning. I'm not much of a heel striker as it is but I did feel much more cushion in the heel. I will def wear them again on future runs and keep you updated! Don't forget if you want to try a pair I can get you $10off when you use MIKE10 at checkout. Child sexual abuse and child rape. Not a topic most people want to know or talk about. But unfortunately it still happens. Together with @mellyruns & @runningdesigner , @runjprun created #JPsTeam. As a team we run, we support each other, we raise awareness and we raise money. There are two places that are instrumental in supporting & changing the lives of the survivors @thegatehousetoronto & @littlewarriorscanada. We raise money for these two amazing organizations so they can continue the incredible work they do. For me the running is easy, what survivors go through their lives is not. Please help me in supporting these organizations because unfortunately there are still people coming forward with disclosure stories looking for love and support. I want to ensure these organizations will always be there and have the resources they need to keep their programs up and running. The link is in my profile.
#ItsNeverOK #JustShowUp #ChildAbuse #ChildRape #SexualAssult 📸 @edison2176 Haven't been out in a while so I thought I'd push myself a little. Was hoping for a new record on my #garmin but it didn't happen. Oh well :) I was still pretty out of breath when I got home so that's a sign of a good hard run :) Kinda wish my @enertorglobal insoles had arrived by now so I could try them out and tell you about them. Next time! I don't think I drank enough today as I was really thirsty when I got home @nuunhydration solved that problem for me :) I really gotta get more consistent in my running before @ottawamarathon this May. Legs feel surprisingly after this run so I really also gotta start upping my mileage.

#bipolarcanadianweather @runjprun is the most resilient, strong and inspirational person I have had the pleasure of meeting and calling a friend. Most of you know this already but for those that don't, Jean-Paul is a survivor of child sexual abuse. Jean-Paul is one of the lucky ones who was able to turn his life around all thanks to the amazing people at @thegatehousetoronto . For my half marathon at @ottawamarathon I have chosen to raise money for his charity which supports The Gatehouse. I'd love it if you could help me and make a donation the link is in my profile. #ItsNeverOk #JustShowUp #JPsTeam
